Dr. Darnell Sonny Turner, Senior Pastor
Pastor Sonny Turner is a native of New York and one of nine children. Pastor Turner accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior, was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Spirit at the age of Ten.
From a youth to a young adult, Pastor Turner served under the leadership of her Presiding Prelate, Bishop Liston Page Sr. of The Greater Highway Deliverance Temple Ministries, Inc., before serving alongside her parents (Senior Pastor Catherine Jackson and Elder Roosevelt Jackson), when they Launched, I Am My Brother’s Keeper Evangelistic Temple Ministries. After being found faithful, Pastor Turner was consecrated into the office of Evangelist and then years later into the role of Co-Pastor and Northern District Secretary, by the laying on of hands by Bishop, Liston Page, Sr..
After relocating to North Carolina, Pastor Turner faithfully served at Kingdom Harvest Bibleway Church (aka The Harvest), from 2013 until 2021, under the leadership of the Late Bishop Stanley Pettice. While a member at The Harvest, Pastor Turner served faithfully on the Leadership Team, in the Women’s, Music and Youth Ministries and was the Singles Ministries Leader.
Pastor Turner and her husband are the founders of Salt of the Earth Outreach Global Ministries, Inc., which launched in the spring of 2021 and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to sharing the good news and love of Jesus Christ, Pastor Turner and her husband assist families in crisis by linking them to resources in the community (to assist with obtaining affordable housing, access to food pantries, clothing closets, vocational training, and support groups).
Pastor Turner earned a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Management from Nyack College, attended the Alliance Theological Seminary to study Spiritual Formation and earned an Associate in Occupational Studies. She maintained a perfect 4.0 average while attending Fordham University to study child psychology and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Theology, from Anointed By God Alliance Theological Seminary. Pastor Turner is certified in various areas of intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health services. She is a recipient of the Women of Power and Distinction Award from the Greater Highway Deliverance Temple Ministries, Inc..
Pastor Turner served as an educator with the NYC Dept. of Ed. for over 6 years; served as an advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities over 13 years; is the owner and CEO of Sonnie’s Creations Gift Boutique and is a published author.
God has blessed Pastor Sonny Turner with a covering, a life and ministry partner, as well as an amazing friend, in that of her loving husband, Richard and is the proud mother of four exceptional children: her daughter Tanzania and sons, Danny, Malachi and Eli. Together, Pastor Turner and her family walk in the radical, never-ending favor of God. Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. Proverbs: 31:25.
